The International Baptist Theological Study Centre (IBTSC) in Amsterdam will host ϳԹ religion professor Kenneth Roxburgh for the organization’s 2019 Hughey Lectures Jan. 23.
The two lectures, titled “‘Discerning the Mind of Christ,” will include a look at the culture of the American South and the practice of discernment at Birmingham, Alabama’s Southside Baptist Church, which Roxburgh serves as Pastor for Preaching and Teaching.
Roxburgh is the author of many scholarly articles as well as the book, Thomas Gillespie and the Origins of the Relief Church in 18th Century Scotland. At Samford, he teaches Baptist History and Theology, Christian Theology, Pastoral Theology, and Contemporary Theology.
The Hughey Lectures were the idea of Wayne Pipkin, the well-known Anabaptist scholar and faculty member. The lectures have been delivered by a number of renowned Baptist and Anabaptist researchers, including Andrea Strübind, David Bebbington, Curtis Freeman and Ian Randall.
