Job Description

Are you someone who’s got your finger on the pulse of social media? Do you love to write short and long form copy? Do you have an eye for aesthetics? Are branding and public image concepts that intrigue you? If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, you should apply to become a ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Marketing Intern, an internship held within the Marketing and Communication department at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.

Our interns assist our Central Marketing team with the following:

  • Social Media
  • Public Relations
  • Videography
  • Photography
  • Copyrighting

We value creative, driven and committed students to fill this position, while also being well-rounded representatives of the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøbrand. We hire interns for the fall, spring and summer semesters.  

Student earnings will be paid biweekly in the form of a check or direct deposit payable to the student.

Required Qualifications

The duties of a Marketing intern sometimes overlap, but there are certain positions on our team that need dedicated interns. Those include:

  • University Social Media Manager
  • Director of University Communication
  • Director of University Marketing
  • Marketing Managers of various schools
  • Executive Director of Broadcast
Intern for Social Media Responsibilities:
  • Creating Content: filming and taking photos (of people and campus)
  • Interviewing students, faculty and staff
  • Editing video and photos
  • Drafting and writing social copy for multiple channels
  • Supporting the development of social content calendars
  • Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms
  • Knowledge of social media trends
  • Brainstorming content topics and concepts
  • Social coverage of events on campus
  • Assistance with pulling analytics and reports
  • Other duties as assigned
Intern for University Communication Responsibilities:
  • Development of feature stories for newsletters, website, university magazines and other internal and external publications
  • Drafting press releases and media advisories to support university media relations efforts
  • Supporting the development of Belltower, Samford’s bi-weekly e-newsletter
  • Assisting in media reporting and clip tracking
  • Staying up to date on trending topics in the media
  • Assisting in editing and proofing written content
  • Participation in other organizational tasks as needed
