Job Description
- Answer telephones and welcome visitors to the Career Development Center (CDC)
- Schedule appointments with the appropriate counselor(s).
- Make copies to maintain an adequate number of office handouts, including Majors, Myers Briggs Types, and other general handouts for career counselors.
- Make daily appointment reminder phone calls.
- As your class schedule permits, assist with CDC events, such as Majors Connection Fair, Job & Internship Fair, or Info Tables as needed.
- Assist CDC staff with campus errands or projects as needed.
- Refer students to Handshake for job and internship positions, answering questions as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Federal Work/Study earnings will be paid biweekly in the form of a check or direct deposit payable to the student. This award does not credit to the account of the student as payment toward University charges.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Ability to interact with constituents in person and on the phone in a professional, friendly, and welcoming manner.
- Ability to work with multiple interruptions.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to carry up to 15 lbs. and walk across campus in varying weather.
- Must be comfortable talking on the phone/working next to supervisor.
Hours
Students must commit to a minimum of six hours per week, although eight or more are preferred. Shifts are typically at least two hours in length.
