Job Description
The Peer Tutor in Physical Therapy provides academic support and mentorship to fellow students in the Physical Therapy program. This role involves assisting peers in understanding complex concepts, improving study skills, and developing strategies for academic success. The Peer Tutor will work closely with staff and faculty to support students in their academic journey. Key Responsibilities: Academic Support.
- Assist students in understanding course material, including anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, neuroscience, and other physical therapy-related subjects.
- Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions, both in-person and online, to help students grasp difficult concepts and improve their performance.
- Develop and share study materials, such as practice questions, summaries, and flashcards, tailored to the specific needs of the students.
Mentorship:
- Offer guidance on effective study strategies, time management, and exam preparation.
- Encourage and motivate peers to stay focused and persistent in their studies.
- Share personal experiences and insights from the Physical Therapy program to help students navigate academic challenges.
Communication:
- Maintain open and supportive communication with tutees, ensuring they feel comfortable asking questions and seeking help.
- Provide feedback on student progress to faculty and suggest areas for further support.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to align tutoring sessions with course objectives and current curriculum.

Federal Work/Study earnings will be paid biweekly in the form of a check or direct deposit payable to the student. This award does not credit to the account of the student as payment toward University charges.
Required Qualifications
Must be a PT student.
Areas of emphasis in Biomechanics, Ex-Phys, and Neuro.
- Currently enrolled in a Physical Therapy program with a strong academic record.
- Proficiency in key Physical Therapy subjects (e.g., anatomy, kinesiology, biomechanics).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping others succeed.
- Previous tutoring or mentoring experience (preferred but not required).
- Working Conditions:
- Flexible hours, typically scheduled around the tutor's academic commitments.
- Sessions may be conducted in-person or online, depending on student needs and availability.
